DEAD MAN'S CORNER
We wanted the listener to be 'right in the room with us’....so
we rehearsed these songs like maniacs (and quite tricky some of them are to learn, but hopefully not on the ear!). We then played a selection of special gigs to tighten everything up and retreated to Tankerton Towers…. our own space…! We set up microphones and played the tunes 'live' a-la Basement Tapes. We did a deliberately un-computer recording….. just let the performances breathe and do their thing….anyone can make a 'posh' recording these days but we took the old route of actually playing into the microphones! The final stage is to re the tracks through old analogue gear..... Dead Man's Corner sound as they sound!

The final track of the Deadmans Corner EP is Souls Unknown.
This track comes from when Steve worked as guitarist for Paul Young back in the 80s. Steve's original track is referenced in
Paul's new box set Tomb of Memories, "A third and final unheard track is pulled from the archives for the last disc. Souls Unknown is a Steve Bolton composition (he wrote No Parlez highlight - Ku Ku Kurama).
According to Paul Young the song was “the greatest fun to record” but was “a little too ‘out there’ for the record company!” That’s a bit of a shame because it’s an amazing track, if a little hard to describe – perhaps psychedelic heavy rock meets ‘Dragnet’ soundtrack...
